Exploring barcelona

We had a big day today, venturing out at 6.30 to find breakfast on Los ramblas. We went into a hole in the wall cafe and discovered that the owner did not speak English. We did pretty well with basic Spanish ( I knew "eggs" and "coffee" ) and pointing. We have run across a whole heap of people today that think we are Italian. Flynn was wearing his Italy soccer shirt and Jason had on a shirt with something Italian on it so everyone spoke to us in Italian. After breakfast we bought tickets for the hop on hop off bus and spent the day doing a whistle stop tour of all the tourist sights - park guell, sagrada familia, all the gaudi buildings, poble espanyol and many others. It was very hot but the bus was open at the top and when we were in the shade the breeze was nice. We still have not managed to have a great meal here - I think more research was required. This afternoon the boys are having a rest while I am down here in the lobby looking up dinner venues on trip advisor.

  1. Keep a look out for HORCHATA, a milk like drink made from nuts, very yummy. The shop where I had this in Valencia was called a Horchateria, like a milk bar but with other yummy things as well.

Horchaterias may be a Valencia thing but if you see one, go in and try it.
